Catalyst Exhibits Wins Prestigious B2 Award

zimmer b2 awards winning stand

Design specialists, Catalyst Exhibits has scooped a prestigious design award at the 2011 B2 Awards, hosted and judged by the Business Marketing Association. Catalyst’s stunning exhibit stand for Zimmer at the AAOS 2010 Show in San Diego won the Best Trade Show Exhibit over 2,500sq feet.

The B2 Awards are an international business-to-business marketing and communications contest that recognizes excellence among top agencies and corporate marketers.

“Zimmer had an important story to tell to an audience of orthopedic surgeons not known for being easily impressed,” Catalyst explains. “They turned to Catalyst Exhibits to develop the strategy. The sense of theatre began before participants entered the viewing space. Massive, sweeping interconnecting paths converged above and below, bathed in white light and blue light. Circular stations led participants from one interactive, touch screen technology station to the next.”

“The showpiece element was a two-storey theatre where Zimmer experts would present innovations including Zimmer’s Trabecular Metal Technology that uniquely simulates bone, and a new highly cross-linked polyethylene, a significant advancement in wear reduction. The main blue path drew attendees through to the theater, a sound a light show in a multi-level high-definition screen backed a two-storey high screen, viewable from hundreds of feet away.”

Catalyst would like to thank its top team of designers – led by Mark Lynch – who worked on this project, and all of our projects, for all of their hard work.

They say size might not be everything but, when it comes to exhibitions, those companies with the biggest booths are often the ones best remembered. But it doesn’t have to be the case because there are several other factors at play that make certain booths stand out from the crowd.

The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) has carried out a follow-up to its 2000 report, Memorable Exhibits: An Analysis of the Factors Affecting Exhibit Recall, to see what attendees remember best from shows, and why. And why is this important?

Well, studies have concluded that being remembered from a show influences future purchasing decisions and establishes greater brand awareness. Read the rest of this entry »

trade show flooring

Sure, it’s the flashiest or biggest exhibition stands at trade shows that catch a visitor’s eye first but it could be your flooring that keeps them at your stand longer.

Often in stand design, the flooring used is overlooked but smart companies have realized that getting the right flooring can make a big difference – not least to all those tired feet.

According to Chris Harmen, of The Inside Track, there are six ways that show flooring can add some ‘Wow’ to your stand. Read on…

We’ve been going green for some time now but now it’s official as Catalyst Exhibits has just become a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

It’s a non-profit organization with over 18,000  member companies and organizations dedicated to creating cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings.

Our membership is just part of a growing shift towards greener practices and within the USGBC, we will have access to a lot of support and advice.

In recent times, Catalyst has been involved in a growing number of specialist events like Power-Gen, the International Greenbuild Show and Solar-Power – all dedicated towards greener energy and buildings.

As a company, we  already utilize low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) materials but our membership in USGBC will further promote our lean toward green building initiatives.

Exhibit Industry Must Tackle 3 Key Issues

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

belkin standThe exhibition sector is having a tough time, from those that organise, market and run the shows and arenas to the firms like us, Catalyst Exhibits, who design and build the stands.

It’s no surprise then that exhibit industry leaders have been trying to figure out what they can do to improve things.

The Trade Show Exhibitors Association (TSEA), which is made up of “world’s exhibit marketing leaders, exhibit builders, agencies, show producers and other vested suppliers”, recently  held its first Red Diamond Congress event, a three-day leadership summit held in Orlando, Florida.  Why? To thrash out what players from different areas of the exhibition sector view as the key issues.

And, after three days of discussion and, no doubt, some heated moments, these are the Top 3 issues and recommendations:

Renting VS. Owning Your Exhibition Stand

Some argue that owning your own exhibition stand is a better investment in the long run but, that only works if you can see the future of your business in your crystal ball. Since that’s unfortunately not possible, the best option – especially in the current, dangerous economic climate – is to rent your stand.

Andy Besic at Catalyst Exhibits says it’s like buying a car, where you pay a lot up front and then find yourself paying out for expensive maintenance – not repairs – a few years down the road.

“Think of a time when you bought a car from an incredibly helpful salesperson that left you with an overall euphoric experience. Now fast forward a few thousand miles when you are standing in front of the service manager and he is giving you an unbelievable list of maintenance items. You know the type of thing: “you really should do with this oil change.”

As the A-Team’s Colonel John ‘Hannibal’ Smith always famously said: ‘I love it when a plan comes together’.

The setting couldn’t have been more fitting either as the Catalyst Exhibits’ stand for Booz Allen Hamilton scooped ‘Best In Show’ at the Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems’ (DoDIIS) Annual Worldwide conference.

The show, held in Phoenix, Arizona, provided the perfect showcase for the multi-billion dollar strategic and technologic consulting firm at the forefront of the national security, defense and civil sectors.
