Boosting Events With Facebook

facebook logoLike it or loath it, Facebook can be a useful tool for marketing and promoting your event. It’s not perfect and there are cons but there are some simple ways to add another layer to your event marketing strategy.

First, don’t bother trying to post all your event information on Facebook. Facebook is a social/leisure forum not a business tool and you will be competing with a ton of user-generated content.

Just get your event link up and try lure them off Facebook to your dedicated site, where they will find everything else they need.

Invite Facebookers to comment on your event wall and then engage with them…..

– try gauging their opinion on various aspects of your event – this can produce valuable attendee feedback and allow you to tweak your event, if necessary.

Update your event postings regularly with snappy headlines that may encourage people to click out to your event page. Example: “Baseball Legend To Speak At Baltimore’s Leading Sporting Exhibition…” – followed by link to your dedicated event page.

Try persuade – without being a pain – those people that sign up to your event to suggest it to their Facebook friends.

Keep the Facebook listing fresh and keep tabs on what people are saying. Good luck.
