Is Your Exhibit Footprint Green?

These days, it seems everyone is “going green” – or at least talking about it. But it’s not just a trend… many companies are making a concerted effort to reduce their carbon footprint because the effects of not doing so can be far-reaching and, quite frankly, selfish. We at Catalyst Exhibits recognize the part we can play in rethinking, reusing, reducing and recycling and are stepping up to the plate.

In our humble opinion, the exhibit lifestyle is, essentially, how you use the resources you’ve harvested. If you build a cork (renewable) exhibit and store it away for five years, using it rarely or infrequently, how is that better for the world than renting existing materials, vibrantly repurposed and actively utilized? We understand that everyone cannot responsibly rent everything for every show. But we also understand that rental is a critical component to any environmentally responsible exhibit strategy.

If you are an exhibitor who is genuinely concerned about your ecological footprint, then in order to be responsible we believe you MUST consider the exhibit business footprint as a whole… and you MUST incorporate rental elements into your exhibit strategy.

There are undoubtedly levels of complexity for you to consider as you evaluate “green” exhibit options. Yet in our core, we believe:

  • Exhibit properties should be constructed so as to provide value to our clients
  • Maximizing the use of exhibit components as a valuable, effective and responsible way to behave is key
  • Clients should not be forced to buy goods that would be better served by renting
  • Dollar value and carbon value are related
  • Effective and efficient recycling is imperative
  • Reducing our carbon footprint is important
  • Reducing the carbon footprint of our clients is more important

If being green is important to you, before you believe the simplistic hype so common in our industry today, we hope you look more deeply into your available choices. Let us show you how to incorporate rental solutions into your existing or planned exhibit activities. It will probably save you money, too.
